Born in Ankara in 1974, M. Özgür Taşkapılıoğlu is married and a father of two.
His professional interests include pediatric neurosurgery and neuro-oncology, and he also performs operations in the field of adult brain surgery. He has published a total of 155 articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals and contributed chapters to five books. He is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Neurosurgery Association.
He completed his primary education at Giresun Cumhuriyet Primary School and his secondary education at TED Ankara College. In 1998, he graduated from Samsun 19 Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his specialization in brain and nerve surgery at Uludağ University in 2006. After fulfilling his compulsory service at Kars and İnegöl State Hospitals, he began working as a specialist in the Department of Neurosurgery at Uludağ University in 2009. In 2011, he continued his work on an international level at Toronto Sick Children Hospital. In 2017, he was promoted to Associate Professor and in 2022 he was awarded the title of Professor.
